Building Inspection Process

Inspections are done daily, except during severe weather, generally between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and require at least a 24-hour advance notice. To schedule an inspection please request it via our online portal (only available for those that have signed up for portal access) or call the Community Development Department at 603-432-3806. In order to schedule an inspection we will need the address, permit number, and the Map, Block and Lot number. The building inspector will not enter an occupied home to do an inspection unless someone is onsite.

The Building Inspector requires the inspections indicated in the schedule linked here.

Requests for Certificates of Occupancy

Requests for Certificates of Occupancy (COs) need 5 days to properly process the paperwork and to ensure all information has been received by the Department and all inspections have been completed.

Permit Applications

The Community Development Department is encouraging homeowners, business owners, and their contractors that will be applying for permits to do so on our online permitting portal though Civic Plus. New users can request an account and existing users can log-in here:

PERMITTING PORTAL

Once registration is requested, the portal will send an email asking the registrant to verify their email address. Once the email address is verified, Community Development Staff will grant access. Once an account is created, applicants will be able to apply online for all types of building and trade permits, fence permits, minor Watershed Protection Overlay District (WPOD) permits, and Board of Health waivers.

We also offer the following forms available for download:
