Home Posted on January 13, 2026

The Town has been made aware that there are cases of people receiving scam emails impersonating Town officials and asking land use board applicants to wire money to be placed on an upcoming meeting agenda.

Requests such as this are fraudulent. The Town of Windham will never request wire transfers, gift cards, or any form of payment via email for public meeting agendas.

What To Do:

-Do not respond to the email.

-Do not click links or open attachments.

-Do not send money of any kind.

-Print a copy of the email.

-Report the email to Community Development Director Alexander Mello at 603-432-3806. DO NOT FORWARD THE EMAIL.

-If you already sent money, contact your bank immediately and also notify the Windham Police Department at 603-434-5577.

How to Spot a Legitimate Town Email:

-Any emails from the Town will always come from an official .gov Town domain.

-Legitimate communications will reference official Town staff by name, position, and provide a direct phone number for confirmation.

-Scammers are effective at either using public official’s names or similar looking email addresses that appear to be from actual Town officials, if you have any doubt or thing something does not seem quite right, please do not hesitate to call the Town Offices at 603-432-3806.
