Volunteers for Boards & Committees Needed

PUBLIC NOTICE – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The Board of Selectmen is currently accepting application forms from Windham residents to fill positions on various Town boards and committees. Applications can be found on the Town Website (under “I Want to”) and should be submitted to the Administrative Office, Attn: Jamie Pelletier, 3 North Lowell Road, or via email to JPelletier@WindhamNH.gov no later than June 2, 2023 for consideration. Interviews with the Board of Selectmen will then be scheduled for a future meeting. For more information, feel free to call (603) 432-7732. (Note: Some of the expiring positions are currently held by individuals who may choose to seek re-appointment.  REG = Regular Member, ALT = Alternate Member) 

CABLE ADVISORY BOARD – 2 REG EXPIRING & 2 ALT VACANT

Meetings are held at the call of the Chair. Oversees the operations of the Cable Studio and other cable-related services of the Town, particularly as liaison to the local cable provider. 

CONSERVATION COMMISSION – 2 REG & 1 ALT EXPIRING

Meets the second and fourth Thursday evenings of each month. Deals primarily with issues such as wetland/aquifer protection and review of subdivision plans for compliance; negotiates land purchases for approval by the Selectmen.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT – 1 REG EXPIRING & 2 REG VACANT

Meets the second Friday morning of each month. Assists, counsels and advises the residents, Selectmen, other Town boards/ departments, and businesses on the benefits and merits of Economic Development.

FORESTRY COMMITTEE – 2 REG EXPIRING

Meeting time varies. Committee is responsible for the management of the McIlvaine Town Forest in accordance with RSA 31:111.  

HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION – 2 REG & 1 ALT EXPIRING

Meets the second Thursday evening of each month. Charged with oversight of the Town’s designated historic districts, and the preservation of historic resources.

HOUSING AUTHORITY – 1 EXPIRING

5-yr term. Meeting time varies. Primary responsibility is the development of a means to provide affordable housing for the elderly. 

LOCAL ENERGY COMMITTEE – 2 REG EXPIRING & 1 ALT + 1 REG VACANT

Meeting time varies. Primary role is to advise and assist the Town and its residents on reducing their energy usage and costs.

MUSEUM TRUSTEES – 2 REG & 1 ALT EXPIRING

Meets the second Wednesday evening of each month. Charged with cataloging/obtaining historical artifacts and general operations of the Town Museum. 

SEARLES SCHOOL & CHAPEL TRUSTEES – 2 REG EXPIRING

Meeting time varies. Primary responsibility of the Trustees is the oversight of the Searles School and Chapel.
